Tip Of Borneo And Kinabalu National Park Tour 2 Days 1 Night

Borneo is the 3rd largest island in the world, and its northern-most tip is the meeting point of two big oceans, South China Sea and Sulu Sea. The Tip of Borneo is located in Kudat district and one of the most popular attractions in Sabah. The scenery is delightful but you may not know where you stand was used to be a watch-point for pirate invasion hundreds of years ago. That’s why the Tip of Borneo is also known as Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, which means the junction to the battle at the tip (in Rungus language).

Day 01~ Depart to The Tip’s Of Borneo And Overnight

You are to meet up at your hotel lobby by 0800 hours and proceed for your journey to Tip of Borneo, located 40 kilometers to the northwest of Kudat town. The journey will pass through coconut plantations and remote villages. In general, Kudat is located some 3 hours to the north of Kota Kinabalu. The first stop will be at Gombizau village, Bee Farm. For many generations, the people of Kampung Gombizau has been consuming raw honey as it is believed and has been proven to possess remedial properties; other than being able to lend its superior taste to food when used in cooking. The next stop at Sumangkap village is a “Gong Making Village”, the gong is the most important Rungus musical instrument which is played during festivities and grand occasions such as weddings. We proceed to Bavanggazo Rungus longhouse for lunch, here we may experience their cultural dance performance while having your local cuisine.

Simpang Mengayau literally means the ‘wandering crossroad promontory’. It is a headland at the end of a wide bay about 40 km to the north of the town of Kudat. The famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan is believed to have landed there and stayed for 42 days during his round-the-world voyage. That took place somewhere between 1519 when the expedition left Spain, and 1521, when Magellan was killed by the natives in Cebu, Philippines. Relax on some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever see, and if you are a diver you will find the area not only intriguing for its marine life, but also for the treasure trove of ancient wrecks that can be found in the north of Sabah. By late afternoon, we proceed back to Long House for overnight.

Meals: Lunch (Inclusive of Land Transfer, Entrance of Bee Farm, Gong Village & Rungus LongHouse, Meals as Stated, Tour Guide)

Day 02~ Proceed to Kinabalu National Park And return to Kota Kinabalu

Breakfast at 0700 hours then proceeds to Kota Belud for a pit stop before we travel overland along with the magnificent scenery of Crocker range. The journey to Kundasang, foot-hill of mount Kinabalu will take approximately 2 hours half minutes till you reach your first stopover Pekan Nabalu. It was once used by Sir Hugh Low as his base camp for his expedition conquering mount Kinabalu.  Present time, it’s famous for local handicraft and mountain view.

After spending 30 minutes there, we proceed to Kinabalu National Park, where all those who are interested to climb mount Kinabalu have to register here. We will stop at Timpohon Gate, the start of mount Kinabalu trekking and the Park Hq for photo taking. Poring which means bamboo in the local dialect is located 42km from the park headquarters. Trek through a hill dipterocarp forest rich in wild fruit trees and animal life, passing giant bamboos and ginger plants with edible flowers to reach a jungle-canopy walkway 40m  above ground  (non-advisable to those who are a phobia of heights). Then relax in open air outdoor tubs filled with hot or cold running mineral waters. An option of visiting the Butterfly farm and short jungle trail is available for those who want to venture more.
