➡ ITINERARY

Day 1~ Selingan Turtle Island. Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure

Firstly, we will pick you up from Sandakan Airport (preferably the first flight) or your hotel. Then, we will transfer you to the jetty, where the boat will depart at 0930 hrs for Turtle Island. The boat ride will take about one hour. Along the way, we will reach Selingan Turtle Island, which lies 40 km north of Sandakan, in the Sulu Sea off Sabah’s east coast. Selingan Turtle Island is the main place where green turtles come to nest. This is a key highlight of your Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure.

After lunch, you will have free time to relax and enjoy the island. You can choose to swim, snorkel, or just rest and take in the beautiful surroundings.

Later in the day, after dinner, we will wait for the Park Ranger to inform us when a turtle arrives to lay its eggs. You will have the chance to see the turtles’ nesting process, including the collection of eggs and their placement in the hatchery. It’s an unforgettable experience to watch the baby turtles when they are released and make their way to the sea.

Finally, you will stay overnight at the Selingan Turtle Island Chalet. This marks another memorable moment of your Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure.

Meal: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2~ Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre

First, after breakfast, we will leave at 0700hrs and head back to Sandakan. Along the way, we will visit the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, located in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. To begin with, the staff will show a short video about the rehabilitation of orphaned orangutans. Afterwards, we will walk along the boardwalk through the rainforest to the feeding platform. At 1000hrs, we will watch the staff feed the orangutans.

Next, we will continue to the Kinabatangan River. This river is known for being one of the richest ecosystems in the world. In fact, it has the largest concentration of wildlife in Southeast Asia. As a result, you will experience the wonders of nature. After that, we will arrive at Kampung Bilit Jetty.

Then, we will take a boat ride to the Bilit Rainforest Lodge. Upon arrival, the staff will welcome you with a drink and provide a short briefing. Following that, you will check in and enjoy a delicious lunch at the Bilit Rainforest Lodge Restaurant.

Later, at 1600hrs, we will go on a river cruise to search for Proboscis monkeys, birds, and other wildlife along the riverbank. This is part of your exciting Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure. You will have the chance to see animals in their natural habitat and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Finally, we will spend the night at Bilit Rainforest Lodge. This overnight stay marks the end of another exciting day in your Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure.

Day 3~Gomantong Caves and City Tour.

Option A (End of Services: 1300hrs)

First, after breakfast, we will travel to Gomantong Cave, which is located in the heart of the Gomantong Forest Reserve. Here, you will explore the largest bird’s nest cave in Sabah. This cave also holds the title of being the best-managed edible bird’s nest site in the world. Next, after lunch, we will take you to Sandakan Airport or your hotel.

This marks the end of your Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure.

Option B (End of Services: 1300hrs)

First, after breakfast, we will begin the City Tour. We will start by visiting the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, where you will enjoy a beautiful view of Sandakan Bay from the hilltop at Tanah Merah. Next, we will visit Sandakan Central Market, known for its wide selection of fresh seafood and local agricultural products. Then, we will explore Sim-Sim Water Village, where houses sit right over the water, offering a stunning view of the sea.

Next, we will visit Agnes Keith House. This house is famous because the books Land Below the Wind and White Man Returns were written here. Today, the house serves as a heritage site, offering insights into life during British North Borneo. After lunch, we will take you to Sandakan Airport or your hotel.

This marks the end of your Borneo East Coast Nature Adventure.

Option C – Combination of Option A and B (End of Services: 1600hrs)

First, after breakfast, we will visit Gomantong Cave, located in the heart of the Gomantong Forest Reserve. You will explore the largest bird’s nest cave in Sabah. This site also holds the title of being the best-managed edible bird’s nest area in the world. Then, we will continue with the City Tour. We will start by visiting the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, where you will enjoy a panoramic view of Sandakan Bay from the hilltop at Tanah Merah. Next, we will visit Sandakan Central Market, where you will find an impressive variety of fresh seafood and agricultural products.
