Day 1 ~ Arrival / Culture Dinner

Firstly, upon arrival at the airport, your guide will greet you with a warm welcome. Then, you will transfer to your hotel in the city center. After reaching the hotel, your guide will assist with check-in. Soon after, your guide will give you a briefing about the Borneo Sabah Adventure. This will help you understand the activities planned for the next ten days. After that, take some time to rest or explore nearby places. You can walk around the city, relax in your hotel, or enjoy some local snacks.

Later, at 6:45 PM, your guide will take you for a special dinner at Kampung Nelayan. This floating restaurant is a highlight of the Borneo Sabah Adventure. It is built on stilts, making it look like it is floating on water. The restaurant is famous for its fresh seafood, which is cooked in many delicious ways. As you enjoy your meal, watch a lively cultural performance. The traditional music and dance make the evening even more special. The mix of tasty food and entertainment gives you a perfect start to your Borneo Sabah Adventure.

After dinner, your guide will transfer you back to your hotel. Then, you can choose to rest or take a short evening walk. The city has many night markets and beautiful sights to explore. Finally, relax and get a good night’s sleep, as many exciting adventures await you. Tomorrow, your Borneo Sabah Adventure continues with more amazing experiences.

Day 02 ~ Kinabalu National Park / Poring Hot Spring

After breakfast, we continue our Borneo Sabah Adventure with an exciting trip to Kinabalu National Park. This park is home to many unique plants and animals. First, we visit the Botanical Garden, where you can see orchids, rhododendrons, ferns, pitcher plants, and kerosene trees. At 11:00 AM, a park ranger will introduce you to Borneo’s amazing flora and fauna. Then, take a 90-minute jungle walk near Park HQ. As you walk, enjoy the fresh mountain air and listen to the sounds of nature. After finishing the trek, we stop for a tasty lunch at a local restaurant.

Next, we continue our Borneo Sabah Adventure with a visit to Poring Hot spring, located 42 km from the park headquarters. The name “Poring” means bamboo in the local language. This area has many fruit trees, giant bamboos, and edible ginger flowers. As we walk through the forest, look out for small animals hiding among the trees. Then, reach the famous jungle canopy walkway, which stands 40 meters above the ground. Walking across this bridge gives you an amazing view of the rainforest. It is an exciting experience and a great place to take photos.

After the canopy walk, relax in open-air tubs filled with hot or cold mineral water. These natural waters help refresh and relax your body. If you want more adventure, visit the Butterfly Farm or explore a short jungle trail. Finally, at 4:30 PM, we transfer you back to your hotel in Kundasang. Take some time to rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. As another exciting day of the Borneo Sabah Adventure ends, get ready for more unforgettable experiences tomorrow!

Day 03 ~Kudasang/ Sandakan City Tour

After breakfast, we continue our Borneo Sabah Adventure with an exciting journey to Sandakan. We start at 8:00 AM for a 6-hour overland drive, passing through local villages and vast palm oil estates. Along the way, we stop for toilet breaks and refreshments. These stops allow us to stretch, enjoy the view, and observe local villagers going about their daily activities. Watching their way of life adds a special experience to the trip. As we move forward, the changing landscapes make the long drive enjoyable.

Our first destination in this Borneo Sabah Adventure is the World War 2 Memorial Park. This site is well known for the Sandakan Death March, a tragic event where over 6,000 Indonesian laborers and Allied prisoners lost their lives. Walking through the park, we learn about their struggles and sacrifices during the war. The peaceful surroundings offer a place to reflect and appreciate the history of Sabah.

Next, we visit Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, a key stop in our Borneo Sabah Adventure. The temple sits on a hill above Tanah Merah and provides stunning views of Sandakan Bay. Its bright red and gold decorations make it a breathtaking sight. After that, we head to the famous Agnes Keith House, a well-preserved heritage home that gives a glimpse into life during British North Borneo. Inside, we find old photographs, furniture, and stories of Agnes Keith, a well-known writer who lived here.

Later, we explore Sandakan’s original town, which dates back to 1879. We also visit Kampung Buli Sim Sim, a charming water village where wooden houses stand on stilts above the sea. The villagers still follow traditional fishing methods, keeping their culture alive. Finally, we check into your hotel, where you have free time to relax or explore more. This completes another memorable day of the Borneo Sabah Adventure!

Day 04~ Selingan Turtle Island Tour

In the morning, we pick you up from your hotel to start another exciting day of the Borneo Sabah Adventure. First, we transfer to CQ Jetty, where a motorized boat is ready to take us to Selingan Turtle Island. The boat ride takes about one hour, allowing you to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. Along the way, you can admire the view of small islands and, if you’re lucky, spot marine life. Upon arrival, we check into our chalet and take some time to settle in before the day’s activities begin.

After a delicious lunch, the Borneo Sabah Adventure continues with time to explore the beautiful beach. If you enjoy swimming, grab a mask, fins, and snorkel to explore the clear blue waters. Many colorful fish and small marine creatures live in the shallow waters near the shore. As you snorkel, you may even see tiny crabs and starfish hidden in the sand. On the other hand, if you prefer to relax, you can sunbathe on the soft sand while listening to the gentle waves. The warm breeze and peaceful surroundings create a perfect spot to unwind before the evening activities begin.

Later in the evening, just before dinner, take part in an informative slideshow about the turtle park and its conservation efforts. This part of the Borneo Sabah Adventure helps you understand why protecting turtles is so important. After dinner, we gather at the cafeteria and wait for the Park Ranger’s signal. As soon as it is time, we move in a small group to witness a mother turtle laying her eggs. Then, we watch as the rangers carefully transfer the eggs to the hatchery. Finally, the most touching moment arrives when the baby turtles are released into the sea. Watching them make their way to the water is a truly magical experience. With hearts full of joy, we return to our chalet for an overnight stay, ending another memorable day of the Borneo Sabah Adventure.

Day 05 Turtle Island/Sepilok/Kinabatangan River

Early in the morning at 6:00 AM, wake up to the peaceful sounds of nature. Then, at 6:30 AM, enjoy a hearty breakfast to prepare for the day ahead. By 7:00 AM, it’s time to depart from Selingan Island. The one-hour boat ride back to the mainland offers breathtaking views of the open sea. As you travel, feel the cool breeze and admire the endless blue sky. Upon arrival at the jetty around 8:00 AM, take a short break before continuing the next part of your Borneo Sabah Adventure.

Next, head straight to Sepilok Orang Utan Centre Rehabilitation Centre, one of the most exciting stops on the Borneo Sabah Adventure. The drive takes you through lush greenery and small villages. Upon arrival, explore the centre before the 10:00 AM feeding session. Soon, the park ranger calls the orangutans, and they start appearing from the trees. Some swing gracefully from branch to branch, while others slowly climb down to collect their food. At the same time, keep an eye out for macaques, who sometimes sneak in to grab a meal. However, visitors must keep a safe distance from all the animals.

After watching the orangutans, learn more about their journey to rehabilitation. The centre was first proposed in 1961 by P.F. Burgess, then the Deputy Conservator of Forests in North Borneo. At 11:00 AM, watch a 20-minute video that explains the centre’s important work. Once the video ends, take a short walk to a nearby restaurant for a well-deserved lunch. Enjoy a delicious meal while reflecting on the incredible experience of seeing orangutans up close.

Later, continue the Borneo Sabah Adventure with an exciting drive to Bilit, Kinabatangan. The journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes, passing through charming local villages and vast palm oil estates. Along the way, observe the daily lives of the villagers as they go about their routines. Once you arrive at the jetty, board a small boat for a short 3-minute ride across the river to your jungle lodge. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and take some time to relax. The afternoon is free for you to unwind and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.

At 4:00 PM, set out on an unforgettable boat cruise along the Kinabatangan River, a major highlight of the Borneo Sabah Adventure. As you drift along the water, keep your eyes open for unique wildlife. You may spot proboscis monkeys resting in the trees, pygmy elephants drinking by the river, or hornbills soaring through the sky. With each turn of the river, a new surprise awaits. The 1.5-hour cruise offers countless opportunities to capture stunning photos and appreciate the untouched beauty of Borneo’s rainforest.

By evening, return to the lodge just in time for dinner. A delicious meal featuring local flavors will be served at the restaurant. After dinner, you have two exciting options. You can join a night jungle walk with an experienced guide to search for nocturnal animals. Alternatively, you can simply relax at the lodge, listen to the soothing sounds of nature, and reflect on the amazing experiences of the day. No matter what you choose, this part of the Borneo Sabah Adventure will leave you with lasting memories of Borneo’s incredible wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.

Day 06 ~ Tabin Wildlife Reserve

Early in the morning, begin your Borneo Sabah Adventure with a scenic journey to Lahad Datu. The four-hour drive passes through small villages, rolling hills, and dense forests. Along the way, see vast palm oil plantations and stretches of untouched wilderness. The road has both paved and gravel sections, making the ride adventurous. Upon arrival, check into a cozy timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Reserve. The resort sits beside the Lipad River, deep in the rainforest. Birds, insects, and small mammals often appear near the lodge.

In the afternoon, continue your Borneo Sabah Adventure with a visit to Lipad Mud Volcano. First, take a 20-minute trek through the jungle. Along the way, look for rare plants and animals. Listen to birds chirping and leaves rustling in the wind. Soon, reach the mud volcano, an open area rich in minerals. Many animals visit to lick the soil for nutrients. Observe footprints left by wildlife in the soft mud.

Next, climb the observation tower for a breathtaking view of the rainforest. The contrast between the bare mud volcano and the thick jungle is stunning. Look for colorful birds flying across the sky. As the sun sets, the scenery becomes even more beautiful. After enjoying the view, return to the lodge for dinner.

Later, your Borneo Sabah Adventure continues with a slide presentation about Tabin’s biodiversity. Learn about the unique animals and plants in the rainforest. Then, go on a night walk to search for nocturnal creatures. Use a flashlight to spot glowing eyes in the dark. Finally, return to your lodge and fall asleep to the peaceful sounds of nature.

Day 07 ~ Tabin Wildlife Reserve / Semporna

Furthermore, morning call by the sounds of wildlife, you may opt to join the early morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin’s rich collection of almost 300 bird species. After breakfast, trek through the lush green rainforest known for its rich diversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad Waterfall. Then, take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy a natural and refreshing shower under the waterfall. After lunch, we depart by land to , an approximately 4 hour’s journey. For your reference, the name Semporna, means place of rest, and was given after the British quelled resistance from the local Bajau in the mid-1880s. Upon arrival, you will be transfer direct to Mabul island and register. Dinner at Resort and over night.

Day 08 Mabul Island / Island ~ Sipadan

Next, your Borneo Sabah Adventure takes you on a fun snorkeling trip to Sipadan and Mabul. First, meet at the resort lobby, then take a boat ride to Sipadan. Besides, the island rises 600 meters (2,000 feet) from the seabed, creating a beautiful underwater world.

Also, Sipadan is home to thousands of fish and hundreds of coral species. Then, you may see sea turtles, reef sharks, and colorful fish swimming nearby. Furthermore, many divers call Sipadan one of the best dive sites in the world. After snorkeling, enjoy a tasty lunch by the beach.

After lunch, continue your Borneo Sabah Adventure with another snorkeling session at Mabul Island. Moreover, this small island has sandy beaches and clear waters. Additionally, it sits on a reef just 20 minutes north of Sipadan.

Besides, Mabul is famous for tiny sea creatures. In addition, you may see seahorses, nudibranchs, and even a blue-ringed octopus. Many photographers visit to capture rare marine life. As well, the island is the last on the Borneo shelf before the ocean floor drops deep.

In the afternoon, enjoy free time to relax. Walk on the beach, swim in the sea, or just enjoy the view. Finally, take in the beauty of the ocean before heading back to the resort. This ends another exciting day of your Borneo Sabah Adventure.
