Meet your guide at the hotel lobby by 0800 hours, a 30-minutes drive from Kuching brings us to a Malay village built on stilts over the river. Another 25-minute boat ride along the coast of the South China Sea lands at the coastal park with sandy beaches, accessible by well-marked trails and beautiful cliffs and strange rock formations. The oldest park in Sarawak, it is the best park in Sarawak to viewing wildlife –long-tail macaques; silver-leaf monkeys; monitor lizards and bearded pigs. Bako is a home of a rare proboscis monkey. Other attractions beautiful beaches and interesting rock formations. By 1500 hours you be taking the boat transfer back to the mainland where you are transferred to your hotel. Your flight to Miri from Kuching will depart at 0700 hours, you transfer from your hotel by 0530 hours to the airport. The flight takes approximately 1 hour where you be met by our representative and you assist to check in your luggage and boarding pass for your Mulu flight. Thereafter you transfer to Miri town center for light refreshment or just wondering around the town until you transfer back to the airport for your 1425 hours flight to Mulu which will take approximately 30 minutes. At Mulu airport, you are met and transfer to your choice of accommodation, briefing by your guide and free at own activities the rest of the day.

Day 4 ~ Mulu Day 2
After breakfast, we depart by longboat at 0830hrs to the source of the Clearwater River. We first stop at Batu Bungan Penan Settlement for a short excursion of the settlement. You are able to see the handmade handicraft like baskets, bangles, mats by the Penan tribe. From there we go by boat to visit WINDS OF THE CAVE with unusual calcite formations, including the tall, slender stalagmites in King’s Room. Just a few hundred meters upriver lay CLEARWATER CAVE where you have to climb 200 steps to the cave’s main entrance; visit the Lady’s Cave and the underground river. The pool at Clearwater Spring is a nice place to swim and picnic. Lunch will be provided at the lodge, thereafter you transfer to Mulu Park Headquarters, take the plank walk to visit DEER CAVE, one of the biggest cave passages in the world. Close to Deer Cave is LANG’S CAVE, small but beautifully decorated. In the evening we will wait at the entrance to Deer Cave, where thousands of bats emerge most evenings to hunt for insects over the forest. By the time you arrive back at your lodge, it will be evening and dinner will be ready. Free at own activities the rest of the day.

From Kota Kinabalu, the journey to Usukan Cove takes approximately one-and-half hours. Throughout the journey, you will be delighted by the wonderful sights and sceneries of the idyllic Kota Belud countryside—passing endless plains of paddy fields, undulating hills, and rustic wooden village houses with a picturesque view of the majestic Mount Kinabalu in the background. After breakfast, we depart for Kinabalu Park Headquarters where the majestic Mount Kinabalu is. Visit the Botanical Garden to see orchids, rhododendrons, ferns, pitcher-plants, kerosene trees, and others. At 1100 hours, you will be guided by a park ranger and they will make an introduction of flora & fauna which part of these species are only found at Borneo. Take a jungle walk near the Park HQ (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes) and learn more about the Montane Forest. After finishing your trek, we proceed for your lunch at a local restaurant. Poring which means bamboo in the local dialect is located 42km from the park headquarters. Trek through a hill dipterocarp forest rich in wild fruit trees and animal life, passing giant bamboos and ginger plants with edible flowers to reach a jungle-canopy walkway 40m above ground Then relax in open-air outdoor tubs filled with hot or cold running mineral waters. An option of visiting the Butterfly farm and short jungle trail is available for those who want to venture more. By 1630 hours, you transfer back to your preferred choice of hotel at Kundasang.

We depart for Sepilok by 0800 hours, the overland journey will take approximately 6 hours passing through local villages and palm oil estate. Stopping at certain places for toilet stop and refreshment, observe the local people daily life chores, we might learn from them. We will first visit the World War 2 Memorial Park infamous for the Sandakan Death March. The Marches were a series of forced marches from Sandakan to Ranau which resulted in the deaths of more than 3,600 Indonesian civilian slave laborers and 2,400 Allied prisoners of war held captive by the Empire of Japan during the Pacific campaign of World War II at prison camps. For an unrivaled panoramic view of Sandakan bay and a look at its newest temple, a visit should be made to the extravagantly ornate Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, on the hill-top above Tanah Merah south of Sandakan town center. The much-talked-about Agnes Keith House is hard to miss. Today the house has been restored and turned into a heritage house, providing interesting insights to life during British North Borneo. The site of the original town of Sandakan, which began in 1879, is located a short walking distance from the center of town at Kampung Buli Sim Sim, which is a large water village where the neat wooden houses are perched on stilts above the sea and reached by plank walkways, till today, the practice as a fishing village is still been forward by their generation. You are met and transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre for the 1000 hours feeding. The call from the park ranger may also attract other inhabitant’s such as the macaque’s, the visitors are prohibited from getting in contact with any of these ape’s. The Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre goes back to a project proposed in 1961 by PF Burgess, then the Deputy Conservator of Forests in North Borneo. By 1100 hours a video show about the nursery will start which take about 20 minutes. Finishing the video, you will be transferred to the nearby restaurant for your lunch. The overland journey to Bilit, Kinabatangan, will take about 1 hour 45 minutes passing through local villages and palm oil estate. Arriving at the jetty, you be transferred by local boat to your lodge which is merely 3 minutes boat ride. Leisure till your afternoon boat cruise at 1600 hours in search of the wildlife that had occupied the area decades before human. The return cruise will take about 1 hour 30 minutes where dinner in local traditional cuisine is served at the lodge restaurant. You may have the option to take a night jungle walk together with the locals to avoid being astray or simply relax at the restaurant enjoying the nature sound of nightlife.

Day 10 ~ Kinabatangan Day 2
Wake up to the calls of gibbons and birds and start the day with an early river cruise at about 6.00am. After the cruise (1 hour), proceed back to the lodge for breakfast followed by a guided jungle walk in the late morning through the riverine forest to Danau Bilit (Ox-Bow Lakes) for wildlife sighting – an opportunity to meet the ‘bloodsuckers’ in the jungle – leeches. Stay calm and relax and treat your ears to the many fascinating sights and sounds of the jungle wildlife. Lunch will be provided at the lodge by noon, free at own activities until your second-afternoon boat cruise. Return back to the lodge and dinner will be served. Overnight at Kinabatangan Lodge.

We travel overland to the district of Lahad Datu for Tabin Wildlife Reserve, the journey takes about 4 hours along path road and gravel road. Check into an attractive timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, nestled within the rainforest beside the Lipad river, this lovely setting is home to a surprising variety of birds, insects, and small mammals, even right beside the buildings of the resort. In the afternoon, visit the Lipad mud volcano which provides a mineral salt lick for wildlife. After trekking through the rainforest for 20 minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano which is frequented by wildlife and birds. Try to identify the multitude of animal footprints here. Climb the observation tower and admire the contrasting landscape of the bare mud volcano and its surrounding thick forest, where birds are commonly sighted. After dinner, enjoy a slide presentation on Tabin’s natural wonders, followed by a trip to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Overnight within nature surrounding.

Morning call by the sounds of wildlife, you may opt to join the early morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin’s rich collection of almost 300 bird species. After breakfast, trek through the lush green rainforest known for its rich diversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad Waterfall. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy a natural and refreshing shower under the waterfall. After lunch, we depart by land to Semporna, approximately 4 hour’s journey. Mabul is an island off the south-eastern coast of Sabah in Malaysia. It first became popular due to its proximity to Sipadan island. A few years back, it has gained its recognition as one of the best “muck diving” sites in the world. Mabul Island is a small oval-shaped island surrounded by sandy beaches and perched on the northwest corner of a larger two square kilometer reef. Mabul is arguably one of the richest single destinations for exotic small marine life anywhere in the world. proceed to Mabul Island by boat around 10:00 a.m. for approximately 45 minutes to 1-hour journey, depending on the sea or weather condition. Expected to arrive at Mabul Island at 11:00 a.m. and proceed for briefing, registration, and check-in. Lunch will be served at noontime.

Mabul Island, just 20 minutes north of Sipadan Island and the last island still on the Borneo shelf before the ocean floor drops to some 800m, has been named in many diving magazines for its popularity amongst macro photographers who look for the really rare creatures. Mabul is home to a small village – generally fishing and boat building, as well as being the location of at least five dive resorts, and also smaller dive lodges. Mabul diving gives macro photographers some great opportunities to capture some extremely rare ecological species which have carved a niche for themselves in the underwater world around here. Mabul is arguably one of the richest single destinations for exotic small marine life anywhere in the world. Mabul offers a very different kind of diving compares with Sipadan. You may have the option of doing your activities at Sipadan island or simply relax at the resort swimming pool overlooking the beach. Overnight at Mabul Resort.
