First, you will be picked up from your hotel, and then we will begin our journey overland, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Crocker Range. Along the way, you will have a chance to relax and take in the stunning views.
After that, we will continue our drive to Kundasang, located at the foot of Mount Kinabalu. The journey will take about 1 hour and 45 minutes. During this time, we will make our first stop at Pekan Nabalu. This place was once used by Sir Hugh Low as his base camp when he was climbing Mount Kinabalu.
Today, Pekan Nabalu is famous for its local handicrafts and breathtaking views of the mountain. After spending about 30 minutes there, we will move on and head to the Kinabalu National Park. This park is an important stop because all visitors wishing to climb Mount Kinabalu must register here.
Next, we will visit the Botanical Garden, where you can see a wide range of plants, such as orchids, rhododendrons, ferns, pitcher plants, and even kerosene trees. This garden is home to many of Borneo’s unique plant species.
At 11:00 AM, a park ranger will guide you and explain the fascinating flora and fauna found in the park. Some of these species can only be found in Borneo. Then, we will take a jungle walk near the Park Headquarters, which will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This walk will give you a closer look at the Montane Forest and it’s amazing ecosystem.
Afterward, once the trek is over, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will head to Poring, which is about 42 km from the park headquarters. Poring, meaning “bamboo” in the local dialect, is known for its natural beauty. Here, you will walk through a forest filled with wild fruit trees and rich animal life. Along the way, we will pass giant bamboos and ginger plants with edible flowers. You will then reach the jungle-canopy walkway, which stands 40 meters above the ground, offering fantastic views of the forest.

For those who want to explore more, you can visit the Butterfly Farm and take a short jungle trail.
Finally, at around 4:30 PM, we will transfer you back to your hotel or any shopping mall in the city area. This day trip is a wonderful way to explore the beauty of Kota Kinabalu, as well as the nearby areas of Kundasang and the Island. It’s a perfect way to experience the natural wonders of Borneo in just one day!
